DHMS Magazine Featured My Miniature World Blog

Hello everyone,

Hope you are all well and enjoying your weekend. Here in Malta it is extremely hot and sunny.  The sea is just beautiful and in the evening it gets cool and perfect to stroll in our village. I live seconds away from the sea and I wouldn't want it any different.

For the month of August the Dolls House and Miniature Scene Magazine featured My Miniature World Blog. I was asked by the Editor Karl Golder if My Blog could be featured in the magazine.

Well you all know what my blog is all about; the love for the dolls house hobby that grew and grew. Through it I have learnt so many techniques and history, got to meet so many new people, made a lot of great friends and best of all I've learnt to appreciate what I  can do. Yes finally I started believing in myself and that no hurdle will stop me. I believe that there is always a way, that a problem can be solved no matter how big and that I will keep on striving till I reach my goal. At least I can say it always worked for me in My Miniature World.

Here is My Blog feature on the Dolls House and Miniature Scene on August's Issue.

In November My Miniature World Blog will be celebrating five years since it's first post. My, my time does go by. I have to say I love it. Not just for the sake of having a blog but it is a way of keeping record of everything I did, every step I did of each project and even better I can keep count of how old my projects are. Even though I have to admit that some of my first projects are much older than the blog. Let's face it I wouldn't have built over twenty dolls houses in just five years. This year I also celebrated 20 years since I started dolls housing.

It is great to know that through my blog I got to meet so many people and if it wasn't for you I don't think I would have one at all. I remember one of my dolls house friends pushing me to document my work on a blog. I remember myself telling her that I didn't have what it takes. She brushed me off and didn't stop nagging until I have started it. Five years later here I am today. She was very right indeed, so I thank you my dearest Erin for believing in me.

I still try my best to manage once a week to drop a line of what I have been up to with a project that I have been working on or something that was worth sharing.

We have joined other social platforms too that have provided to be useful and now I have been asked to join Instagram. Still not sure all about it.

I also wanted to remind you that every year in December I make an online Advent Calendar for all. Every day from the beginning of December till Christmas eve I share a miniature tutorial that I found useful or a miniature print. I have done it for the past two years and this year won't be any different.

Regent Street will still continue with it's story line and with new buildings. I will be starting a new project which will be part of Regent Street as soon as I get the new premises all set and done so make sure to keep an eye out.

I am updating My Miniature World Books list in the next few days. Now we  have fifty books and many more are to come. With all the miniature readable books that I have been making, it is time to think of making a Miniature Library dolls house project.

I also can't forget My Miniature World Shop at etsy that has been very fruitful in the last few years.

The DHMS team have featured some nice pictures of my projects with the blog which you can see below but their favorite was Kate's Cottage and for some reason I am not surprised.

The Sewing Room in Miss Leah's Boutique

My hand made tea party in Miss Leah's home

The living area in Kate's Cottage

The 1930's Kitchen in Tudor Manor
So this is all for today. We will be having a new update on the Summer House Sea Shells very soon, so keep tuned.

Take Care and see you soon.

Sea Shells - Looking Better Already!

Hello everyone.

Hope you are having a great week and that Summer is treating you good. I am very very busy we so many things. While enjoying my kids on during their Summer break, I still have to fit in some miniature work. We have started clearing up our new premises so hopefully we will start really working on it in August. While setting up the whole thing it is slightly hard to really concentrate on my hobby even if it is for the hobby.

Before I start I wanted to welcome five new followers to our blog; Veronique Blommaart, Linda, Rhonda, Karen and Danielle Jarosz. A Big welcome to you all. Also today I will be announcing our winner of the free Give Away who is Barbara Lindsay. Please send me an email witb your details so I can send you the book. We will be having a new Give Away in just a couple of weeks so keep an eye out.

Today I wanted to share with you some progress that I have made on the renovation of my Summer House called Sea Shells. My intentions are not to fully renovate it but to give it a much better look at least from the inside. For some reason it looked childish to me.

More Works on Sea Shells
So I added a few more to the living area. I wanted to see how it would look with two arm chairs. So far I like the idea. I am thinking of adding a small coffee table in the center. some more shelves and even a small hall table by the side. I hope it all fits.

As the lights were not properly fixed in the ceiling. I have made new lights and passed it through  the ceiling as it should have been done from the 1st place. This dolls house was my very first kit by DHE that I built. I also gave a little color to the stair railings so it won't look all white. I think it looks much better.

The living area
Then I started working on the 1st floor which is the bed room. I have changed the wall papers and flooring.  I decided to cover the whole wall this time and I think it matches. Being a Summer House called Sea Shells I went for a pale light blue for both rooms. Eventually I think I will be nick name it the 'Blue One'.

Bed Room

To continue with the stair case I have also painted the railings with a different shade of brown. For some reason I always thought that this particular room had something missing. The room is quite small but than again the height of the room is too big as it has a pitched roof so it is understandable. To add more character I thought of adding some beam work in the ceiling and I think it was a good idea for this room. I think it looks much better and at least that empty space was filled.

Beam work in the bedroom
I have added some pieces of furniture just for fun to see how it looks with the new decor and I think I like it very much. I am still not sure about the furniture. I am still considering to keep it the way it was before but I guess I have to wait and see until something comes up.

So far this is how the rooms look like at the moment.

So this is all for today. I hope you like what I have done so far. Apart from decorating it I still have to work on the roof on the outside which I will be tiling so I have lots to do there. Keep tuned for the next update.

Take Care and See You Soon.

Number 35, Miss Leah's Home makes it in Print.

Hello everyone,

Once again we came to another weekend. Hope you are all fine and enjoying your summer. I am enjoying the kids as they are off on their summer break. At least I am pleased that I get to spend most of the day with them.

This Summer we will be very busy fixing the property for the big move of the dolls houses. I will be posting some pictures when some good progress has been done. I also wanted to thank you family, friends and fans for all your support. Your emails and messages do give me the courage to keep going strong and I guess it is thanks to you that I arrived where I am today. I am pleased to say that My Miniature World on Face Book has reached over 15,000 likes. Thank you everyone. I really appreciate it and it means a lot to me.

I am thrilled to say that No 35, Miss Leah's Home is featured on the Dollhouse Miniatures Magazine on July/August Issue.

There is a 3 full pages with article and pictures. The article is called A Home for Miss Leah. You can click here for those who would like to read it.

Miss Leah will always be one of my favorite. Miss Leah's Boutique and her home were the turning point in my life where I started to give more credit to my work. I actually start believing that no matter how hard the obstacles are and no matter what life throws at me I will keep fighting until I succeed.

Regent street will still keep on growing. I already have several kits that will go in with it. I am just taking it slightly slower than usual as I have to focus more on the property. So hopefully once the new premises is done I can continue working on the new projects.

The boutique and Miss Leah's home really look nice together.

Here are some pictures of Miss Leah's home.

Before closing this post, as a thank you, I thought it was a good time for a FREE GIVE AWAY. Our free give away is our New Readable Miniature Book called Little Red Riding Hood.

Free Give Away
To take part for this free give away is to make sure you are a follower of My Miniature World Blog and leave a comment on this post so I will know who wants to take part. Closing date will be 23rd July 2016. The lucky winner will be announce shortly afterwards.

So this is all for today. We will be having a new update on the renovation of the Summer House Sea Shells as I had some great ideas this week for it. Some times inspiration hits so unexpectedly.  Make sure to keep tuned for more.

Take Care and See You Soon.

Two Dolls Houses featured in a Published Book

Hello everyone,

How are you all? Sorry for not posting any sooner but my family and I were on vacation. We went to to the lovely island of Sicily. It  was nice, hot and sunny. We have visited some beautiful places.  I just wanted to say a quick hello before I get myself busy once again with my dolls houses and miniatures. There will be lots of new miniatures coming up soon and I have quite a list of new miniature readable books being prepared. I have finished all of the stories of Raggedy Ann and there are 12 books in all.  You can all find them in My Miniature World Shop at etsy

Just a day before we left for Sicily the New Book by author Moi Ali arrived which is called Dolls' Houses: A History and Collector's Guide. It had the perfect timing so I took it with me and read it through my holiday.

It is really interesting and there are so many wonderful dolls houses to see. Moi Ali captured most of the Vintage Dolls houses and quite some antiques. The book contains a brief history of Dolls' Houses and Miniatures, Principal Dolls' House manufactures, Starting or Extending a Collection, Protecting, Displaying and Renovating your Collection and Where to See Miniatures.

Moi Ali has made quite a research and there are quite a few who contributed to the book. I am very proud to say that I am one of them.

Yes I am proud that two dolls houses from my collection have been featured in this book which are Butterfly Cottage and Tudor Manor. As most of my dolls houses are from the Dolls House Emporium here is the section.

I have had Butterfly Cottage for over 5 years now. It was a Surprise Christmas Present from my husband. A very rare dolls house by the Dolls House Emporium. It never came in kit form as it is made from resin which was hand made and hand painted.

Here are some pictures of it.

Also my crown jewel the Tudor Manor. I am very very lucky to have this dolls house. As you might know my Tudor Manor was one of the first prototype Adam Purser had built. It was built in 1979 and it was one of the first 2 dolls house designs that the Dolls House Emporium had. At that time The Dolls House Emporium had a different name which was Tudor Models. My Tudor Manor was built by Adam Purser and decorated by Jackie Lee founders of the Dolls House Emporium. I am really pleased that last month I have completed decorating it.

The Chimney also was hand built by Adam purser and is numbered and marked T M for Tudor Models.

And here it is in it's full glory

Moi Ali has made a fantastic job of the whole book. I wish her all the success as she really deserves it. So this is all for today. Hopefully I will be posting by the end of the week. I really hope to work some more on the renovation of the Summer House. So keep tuned for more.

Take Care and see you soon.
