My Miniature Visit to the United Kingdom

Hello everyone,

How are you all? Hope you are having a good week and are enjoying your summer.  Kids are off from school and so I get to spend more time with them.  The temperature is quite hot at the moment and we are expecting more of that. In the mean time  I am preparing for my new dolls house project.

I haven't been around lately and for a good reason. I got to spend three days in London. It has been 11 years since I have been there and I love it. I have to admit it has been very very exhausting trying to fit in everything in a three day time frame.  Apart from that I was all prepared to look for what I love the most.

In this trip there were quite a few firsts for me that I looked forward to with all my heart. So last Thursday I arrived in London, really excited to see my favorite show at The O2 Arena. I guess it was once in a life time experience to see Mrs. Brown's Boys Live. An experience that I will never forget. No matter how many times I see Mrs. Brown's Boys, they always make me laugh.

At The O2 Arena

Early Friday morning, was an adventure that I have been waiting for quite some time. There was no way I was going to miss the Queen Mary's Dolls House. We set out to Windsor Castle by train and finally I got to see the most beautiful dolls house I ever seen.

At Windsor Castle

It was magical. I felt like a little girl being there, and honestly I got emotional when I set my eyes upon it. I could have spent hours looking at it. Taking it all in. Unfortunately no photos could be taken.

The Queen Mary's Dolls House

From there I got The Queen Mary's Dolls House Official Souvenir Guide and a  miniature book of Sherlock Holmes How Watson Learnt the Trick with it's booklet.

I also got to see the queen's dolls with their amazing wardrobe. The state rooms were pretty amazing with all the beautiful antiques and riches. I wished that that moment could have lasted forever. Now I  can continue working on The Queen Mary's Diorama and finish it off.

Friday evening I got to visit some other places and very close to Oxford Street I got to see this amazing Tudor building. I was impressed. It was the first time that I have seen this type of building and finally I got to see the chimneys that fascinate me with their details.

Saturday was my last day in London and I had another goal that I wanted to reach before I headed back to my Maltese Island. I have seen a Dolls House Documentary a few months ago were I got to see Kristin Baybars Toy Shop. I was so taken with her shop and I had it marked to visit if I ever made it to London. So you can all imagine where I was heading too.

Kristin Baybars shop was easy to find. The minute I was out of the train station, there it was across the street.

I entered the shop and I have recognized Kristin immediately. For some reason Kristin sensed that I was a Miniaturist and she lead me to her more sophisticated miniatures. I was speechless. For starters it was my very first time in my entire life that I have entered a miniature shop

Kristin Baybars
Kristin and I talked about so many things, about her experiences, about the hobby and the passion for miniatures. I could have spent the whole day with her looking in every nook and cranny of her shop.

Just before I left I got to see her dolls house collection at the back of her shop. There was so much to see.

From the shop I have gotten myself three very delicate one of a kind pieces. I fell in love with them immediately.

I guess that was my trip to the Uk. I have to admit I was very exhausted as soon as I arrived back but it was all worth it. I loved every minute of it and finally I got to experience something that I have been longing for. A big thank you goes to my husband that patiently he stood by me and also had to endure my miniature visits.

So this is all for today. Hopefully I will get to work on the Diorama. I still need to add more to it and also start working on the new dolls house project. Keep tuned for the next updates.

Take Care and See You Soon.

Finishing off the DHE Miniature Museum Room Box

Hello everyone,

Hope you are having a great week so far. Here in Malta today we had a public holiday so after some home shores and a finished a few orders for my clients,  I got to work some more on my room box. I couldn't resist not showing it to you.

DHE Miniature Museum
I have went back to my trunk of unused furniture and accessories. I can't even believe myself how many pieces I have. The good thing about this room box that I actually haven't spent anything on it but just used from the big stash of unused stuff. Sometimes I just get pieces because I like them not because I need them for a project. So using these several pieces for this project was a bonus.

The next to add were the miniature resin dolls houses by the Dolls House Emporium. I have had them for years and today they are quite rare. The Classical Dolls House, Lilac Cottage and Wentworth Court.  What is a DHE museum without any of their dolls houses right???

The Classical Dolls House

Lilac Cottage

Wentworth Court
The nice thing about this project was that I wanted everything with the DHE Brand even the paintings that hung on the wall. I also had these two tea pots one featuring The Big Ben and the other one Queen Victoria and I have to admit they look just right in the room.

The tea pots
I have printed three signs for both the plate collection and even the tea set. They are quite tiny and fine but they fitted the display well just like a real museum.

Finally I added a sofa, Have to admit not one of my favorites but still I didn't want it to be the main attraction. I also got to add wall shelf sconces were I placed the two other plates and the wall lights.

Here are some pictures with the final touches.

So this is all for today. I hope you liked the new room box. Keep tuned for something new that is coming soon.

Take Care and see you soon.

DHE Miniature Museum - Room Box

Hello everyone,

How are you? Hope you had a wonderful weekend and are enjoying your Summer. Here it is getting pretty hot but I don't mind it at all. I am looking forward to the kids summer break which will start tomorrow. I really enjoy it when they are at home.

I have some exciting news to share. Maybe you have noticed the Award on the left hand side of My Miniature World Blog. I am very proud to say that My Miniature World blog has been honored by being ranked in the Top 100 miniature blogs in the World Wide Web. I wasn't expecting anything of the sort but I have to admit I am thrilled. I don't have words to thank enough my family, friends, followers and fans for your constant love, support and encouragement to make this all possible. From the depth of my heart THANK YOU. Click Here to see the Top 100 miniature blogs on Feedspot.

Before I start I also wanted to welcome the new followers to the blog and also the new members on the Face Book group. Welcome!

As you all know I have been very busy with the last touches of the big move of my dolls houses to their new home and I am very excited about that too. As so much is going on it is very unwise to start working on a new project. I have to admit, I am missing it. It has never happened before that I took so long to actually start a new dolls house project.

Nevertheless that doesn't mean that I can't fit in something small than the usual. So I decided to work on a Room Box.

DHE Miniature Museum
This project I have decided to call it the DHE Miniature Museum. The Dolls House Emporium has always had a special place in my heart. It was through it that I truly found my first inspirations. I have always loved their quality of kits and their excellent services. I have some wonderful miniature pieces that in no manner I will ever use them in a dolls house project but than again they mean so much to me. I decided that through a room box I could easily manage to display them.

You might remember the old room box that I had decorated a few years ago with a Christmas Scene and just before last Christmas I dismantled it to move the accessories in another Shadow box.

The Old room box
As the old room box was empty and I really didn't have much use for it, I thought that it would be perfect for this project.

All the pieces that I will be using for this project will be from the Dolls House Emporium. Some of them are now discontinued and some of them are very special.

So first of all I started with a clean up of the room box. Removed the previous used wall paper and flooring and decided to go for a marble flooring.

Then I fixed the wall paper and also did the skirting for the room.

I had the Queen Victoria's and Prince Albert's Busts for years and never ever found the right place for them in a dolls house.  There was no way I would have separated these and adding them in this project was ideal. I remember that the pair were a free gift.

In the year 2004 the Dolls House Emporium celebrated their Silver Jubilee 25th Anniversary. For the occasion they had offered a Collection of 12 miniature ceramic plates featuring a Dolls House Emporium Dolls House for each month of the year. They were on offer for each order placed during the month. I had collected them all with the lovely display.

In 2009 once again the Dolls House Emporium were celebrating their 30th Anniversary and once again for that year they had made another Collection consisting of 12 miniature ceramic plates featuring a dolls house and the month of the year. This was also offered for free every month when an order was placed. And just like the previous 5 years, I collected also this set with the display.

Apart from these lovely sets which I will treasure forever, I had other ceramics which the Dolls House Emporium had made. One of the occasions was the Queen Elizabeth II Golden Jubilee Coronation Plate. Quite a rare miniature plate.

Lately there was the big wedding of Prince William and Duchess Catherine. The Dolls House Emporium had also made a miniature ceramic plate to mark the date 29th April 2011.

Still the best has yet to come. The Dolls House Emporium not only had made the miniature plate but they also thought of making a whole miniature ceramic tea set. The only thing was that the tea set was never out for sale in the market. I am very lucky to have one myself which was a sample before they made it in production. It was a gift from my friend Amy Purser which is the daughter of the former founders of the Dolls House Emporium. I will always cherish this tea set as it is very rare.

So far this is how the room box looks like. There is still so much that I want to add and I am pleased how it turned out.

The room box matches so well with my sitting room.
I am really eager to continue with this. Keep tuned for the next update on my this small project.

Take Care and see you soon,
